Since settling in South Lake Apopka in 1857 the Roper Family has been apart of our community. W. C Roper our great great great grandfather was one of four men to organize the first Board of Public Instruction and first Board Members.of what was to become  Orange County Public  Schools.

L. F Roper, our grandfather became Mayor of Winter Garden and he, my father and our generation developed many parcels in Winter Garden. The Dillard Street Shopping Center, The Winter Garden Inn, Emerald Acres subdivision (temple grove drive), 720 S Dillard, Island Pointe Sub Division, The Winter Garden Hospital, Diamond R Fertilizer,

We have all been shown how to be Community Volunteers: Rotary, Salvation Army, YMCA, WMFE, Laubauch Literacy, Tri-Hi-Y, Garden Theatre, Oakland Avenue Charter School SAC, Junior Achievement, We Care Crisis Intervention Center,  Central Florida Fair, Central Florida Arts Council, and others.
